Tocado Frida

Measures: 70 x 50 cm

This one is quieter than the other Frida. Same red flowers, same jewelry, same woman — but the expression here is different. She's not looking at you, she's looking past you, or maybe inward. I worked almost entirely in ink and let the washes build the volume without forcing it. The red at the top is the only warmth in the piece and it earns its place — without it the painting would close in on itself. With it, there's air. There's somewhere for the eye to rest before it comes back to that face.
