In “Red,” the intention was to capture the emotional power of color within an urban scene deeply connected to San Miguel de Allende. The composition sets an almost monochromatic atmosphere—built with grays, blacks, and soft washes—against the intense eruption of red in the trees and in the figures moving along the street. This contrast makes color the true protagonist of the piece, giving it a vibrant, almost poetic energy.

The silhouette of the parish church in the background appears wrapped in mist and distance, like a memory or a presence quietly accompanying the everyday scene. Meanwhile, the figures walking through the street, also marked by red, reinforce a sense of identity, movement, and belonging. The light reflected on the pavement adds depth and a visual rhythm that guides the viewer’s gaze toward the heart of the painting.

“Red” speaks of the city as emotion: of human warmth, memory, the intensity of everyday life, and those moments in which a single color can completely transform the way we experience a landscape.
