Flamenco is not about the dancer — it's about what the dancer releases. I kept her face and body in near monochrome because that's not where the painting lives. The dress is where everything happens: that explosion of red sweeping across the page, half fabric, half force of nature. The white paper breathes around it and the ink marks the structure underneath — the feet, the shadow, the one point of contact with the ground. Everything else is movement. I let the watercolor go where it needed to go and stopped before I killed it.
