The horse has always moved me — not as a subject, but as pure energy in form. With Equs I wasn't interested in painting a horse the way you'd photograph one. I wanted the movement, the force, that moment when all four legs negotiate with gravity and the mane goes its own direction entirely. The color is not realistic and that was never the point — blues, greens, magentas across the body because that's what power looks like when you stop trying to name it. The background splits in two and the horse exists somewhere between both. That's where this animal lives. Between worlds.
