In Mirada Dulce, I set out to honor the quiet strength that resides in the everyday expressions of women whose heritage and stories often go untold.
Her gaze—soft yet resolute—carries generations of resilience, culture, and silent endurance. I used watercolor to allow the pigments to breathe organically, letting them flow and blend like memory and emotion. The warmth of her skin tones contrasts with the cool blues of her clothing, emphasizing both tenderness and vitality.
Painting her was a moment of stillness for me—an invitation to slow down and really see someone, not just look. This piece is meant to connect with those who recognize the quiet beauty in the unnoticed, and who understand that dignity often lives in the subtleties of a glance.
