As a painter, Catrina Roja is my tribute to the beauty, elegance, and mystery of life and its ultimate end.

I wanted her to burn with color, fiery reds and golden tones embracing her like a memory that refuses to fade. Her gaze is soft but firm, almost challenging, as if she knows something we’ve forgotten. The flowers in her crown bloom not just with color but with history, tradition, and silent stories.

She doesn’t mourn the dead; she honors them. That’s the spirit I wanted to capture: the fierce poetry of Día de Muertos, in all its vivid glory.
